வேதிப் பூச்சிக்கொல்லிகள் உயிரியல் தற்கொலைக்குச் சமம். இவை பூச்சிகளுடன் சேர்த்து அவற்றின் எதிரிகளையும் அழித்து உணவுச் சங்கிலியைச் சிதைக்கின்றன. பேசிலோவைரஸ்கள் (Baculoviruses) இயற்கை வடிவமைத்த துல்லியமான மாற்று.

பேசிலோவைரஸ்கள் பூச்சிகள் மற்றும் கணுக்காலிகளைத் தாக்கும் நோய்க்கிருமிகள். இவை நியூக்ளியோபாலிஹெட்ரோவைரஸ் (Nucleopolyhedrovirus) பேரினத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவை. இவை குறிப்பிட்ட இனத்தைத் தாக்கும் குறுகிய-வீச்சு கொண்ட பூச்சிக்கொல்லிகளாகச் செயல்படுகின்றன. இவை தாவரங்கள், பாலூட்டிகள், பறவைகள் அல்லது இலக்கல்லாத பூச்சிகளைப் பாதிப்பதில்லை.

Introduction
Baculoviruses are pathogens that attack insects and other arthropods. The majority used as biological control agents belong to the genus Nucleopolyhedrovirus.

Features (NCERT): excellent candidates for species-specific, narrow-spectrum insecticidal applications; shown to have no negative impacts on plants, mammals, birds, fish or even non-target insects. This is especially desirable when beneficial insects are being conserved to aid in an overall integrated pest management (IPM) programme, or when an ecologically sensitive area is being treated.
